Basic provisions
This page provides an overview of the main principles of the protection of personal and other processed data.
The protection of your personal data is important to us. We process your personal data in accordance with relevant data protection legislation, in particular in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (hereinafter referred to as the „Regulation“) and in accordance with Act No. 110/2019 Coll., on the processing of personal data (hereinafter referred to as the „Act“).
1. What is personal data?
Personal data is any information about an identified or identifiable natural person, such as name, residence, email address, telephone number or IP address
2. Who processes your data?
We are the company COOPER PRESS, s.r.o., ID No.: 25207059, with its registered office at Čechyňská 419/14a, Trnitá, 602 00 Brno, registered in the Commercial Register maintained by the Regional Court in Brno, file No. C 67079/KSBR (hereinafter referred to as the „Controller“). We are a publishing house operating a news and content website and as the Controller we will process your personal data according to the terms and conditions set out below.
3. What personal data do we process?
If you are a customer/user of our services, we process the personal data you provide us in connection with the use of our services (e.g. in the context of ordering a subscription to our title, subscribing to the content newsletter at www.kn.cz or in connection with the conclusion of a contract for the use of this service. This is most often the information you provide to us when you register
As a rule, we may process the following personal data (the exact scope of the data processed depends mainly on the nature of the service ordered and the information you provide us with):
- e-mail;
- password
- name and surname in case of account registration within the e-mail services
- contact and/or delivery address (only in case of subscription to the printed title)
- billing and payment information that we store for your account
4. What sources do we use to obtain your data?
The personal data we process about you is usually obtained directly from you when you enter into a contract or during the course of a contractual relationship between us, or in the course of monitoring your activity on our website (accounts) or in the course of individual communication (written or telephone) with you.
In justified cases (especially when recovering amounts owed), we may also search for information about you from open sources, lists and registers such as the commercial register, trade register, insolvency register, etc.
5. Am I obliged to provide my personal data? What if I do not provide personal data?
You provide us with your personal data voluntarily. However, in order to establish a business relationship and/or make a service available, the transfer of certain personal data is required. If you do not provide it to us, it will not be possible to establish a business relationship and/or to provide the service in its full scope and quality.
6. Who all will have access to your data?
Your data is safe with us. We carefully select the partners to whom we entrust your data and who are able to ensure such technical and organisational security of your data that unauthorised or accidental access to your data or other misuse of your data cannot occur. Protecting your data is our priority. All our partners are bound by confidentiality obligations and must not use the data provided for any purpose other than that for which we have made it available to them.
Under certain, precisely defined conditions, we are then obliged to transfer some of your personal data to the Police of the Czech Republic, or other law enforcement authorities and other public administration authorities on the basis of applicable law. These authorities will process your personal data as independent controllers.
Upon your request, we will provide you with information about the recipients of your personal data.
7. Is your personal data transferred to so-called third countries?
As we provide a range of services in an online environment where data is often transferred around the world, it may happen that your personal data is transferred to so-called third countries outside the European Union in the course of providing services or in the course of our business relationship. In such a case, we will only transfer your personal data provided that the European Commission has issued an adequacy decision, the recipient of your personal data is bound by the EU standard contractual data protection clauses or the recipient has provided other appropriate data protection safeguards.
8. How long do we process your data?
We will only process your personal data for as long as is necessary for the purpose of processing. If the personal data is used simultaneously for several different processing purposes, we will process it until the purpose with the longer processing period is no longer applicable. However, we will stop using it for the purpose with the shorter processing period once this period has expired.
Bankruptcy newspapers use the following criteria to determine the processing time:
- in the case of contract performance, we process your personal data for the duration of the contractual relationship between us;
- in the case of fulfilling our legal obligations, we process your personal data for the period of time specified by the relevant legislation;
- in the case of our legitimate interests, we process your personal data for the duration of the relevant legitimate interest. In order to protect our rights, we will continue to process your personal data after the termination of our relationship, until the end of the 5th calendar year after the termination of the relationship. However, in the event of the commencement and continuation of legal, administrative or other proceedings involving our rights or obligations towards you, the processing will not cease before the conclusion of such proceedings;
- if you give us consent to process your personal data, we will process your personal data until you withdraw your consent (unless we set a shorter processing period when obtaining your consent).
9. How is my personal data secured?
The personal data processed is secured by standard procedures and technologies that protect it from unauthorized access by third parties. The security measures adopted are regularly checked and updated. For better security of your personal data, access to it is password protected. We regularly check that the systems used to process personal data do not contain weaknesses or have been subject to attack.
Notwithstanding the above, please note that in the Internet environment it is objectively impossible to guarantee the security of personal data. Therefore, without your help and responsible behaviour, we are not able to protect your personal data 100% In particular, you can increase the security of your personal data by using unique passwords and changing these passwords regularly. Please keep your passwords and other access data confidential and follow basic security principles. Always keep in mind that emails, instant chat messages, blogs and other types of communications with other website users are not encrypted. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you do not use these forms of communication to communicate confidential information.
10. What rights do you have in relation to data protection?
You have the following rights in relation to the processing of your personal data. However, certain exceptions may apply to the exercise of these rights and therefore may not be exercisable in all situations. In the event that you exercise your rights and your request is found to be justified, we will take the required measures without undue delay, within one month at the latest (in justified cases, this period may be extended by up to two additional months). In exercising your rights, we may require you to provide us with appropriate proof of your identity. This is a preventive security measure aimed at preventing unauthorised persons from accessing your personal data.
- Right to information
You have the right to be informed in a concise, transparent, comprehensible and easily accessible manner about how your personal data is processed.
- Right of access to personal data
You have the right to obtain confirmation from us as to whether or not personal data relating to you is being processed and, if so, to obtain access to and a copy of that personal data (including related information).
- Right to repair
You can ask us to correct inaccurate personal data. You may also request that incomplete personal data be completed, including by providing an additional declaration.
- Right to erasure
You can ask us to delete the personal data processed under the conditions set out in Article 17 of the Regulation. Please note that in some cases this right cannot be exercised and we will continue to process your data.
- Right to restriction of processing
In certain cases, you may request that we restrict the processing we carry out (e.g. until your objections have been resolved).
- Right to data portability
You may ask us to transfer personal data we process about you in electronic form to you or to a third party on the basis of a contract or your consent.
- Right to withdraw consent
If the processing of personal data is based on your consent, you may withdraw such consent at any time and prevent further processing for the purpose stated in the consent. However, the withdrawal of consent will not affect the lawfulness of the processing in the period prior to the withdrawal.
- Right to object
If we process your personal data on the basis of our legitimate interests, you have the right to object to such processing. However, we can demonstrate that there are compelling legitimate grounds for further processing on our part.
If your personal data is processed for direct marketing purposes, you have the right to object to the processing of this data at any time. If you object to processing for direct marketing purposes, your personal data will no longer be processed for these purposes.
- Right to request redress and right to complain
If you believe that your personal data is being processed in violation of the law, please contact us and we will promptly remedy the situation. This is without prejudice to your right to lodge a complaint about the processing directly with the Data Protection Authority.
